Yesterday, March 8, 2011 and International Women's Day five courageous, enthusiastic walkers celebrated the sunrise by putting a toe in the Pacific Ocean at sunrise. The day was beau-ti-Full! This was especially appreciated since the day before had been overcast and rainy.
A short ceremony was held at 9:00 AM to bless the walkers and the intention of walk. Each walker, Liz Lafferty, Mary Knapp, Chandler Knapp, Viveka Davis and Doris Davis spoke to the group expressing "Why I Walk". An audio/camera team was on hand to record the comments of those present. There is a video in the making...
The walkers will be walking for the next 7 months and end in Washington DC on September 21, 2011, International Peace Day. Sole2soulwalk's purpose is to move forward the understanding that women's full participation and contribution, in partnership with men, is essential now to resolve our global challenges. Go to sole2soulwalk.com and you will see their route. Zoom in and you will even see the streets they'll be walking on. Plan to join them for part of the walk, offer them a small group to talk about their journey, or just come by and say "Hi".
